Tuxedo Junction Rescue, Inc.

Tuxedo Junction Rescue is a no-kill rescue
organization dedicated to providing tender care
and permanent placement into loving homes
for cats at risk for shelter euthanasia in Austin, Texas.

We primarily rescue black and white ("tuxedo")
and black cats because of their historic difficulty
in being placed through shelters.

However, this focus does not preclude
rescue of other cats in need.

Why do rescue groups exist?

It's an unfortunate fact that more cats (and dogs) exist than there are loving homes for, because not everyone has caught on to the fact that spaying and neutering is a must. It is the animals who pay the price for their overpopulation, because many animals who have nowhere to go end up in shelters; the shelters end up killing adoptable and treatable animals to make more room for yet more animals arriving daily.

Although Austin is trying to move toward becoming a No-Kill city, this goal has not yet been reached. Rescue groups play a part in the no-kill equation by saving animals from shelters (or diverting them from shelters) and finding them permanent homes.

How can you help stop the needless killing?
First, of course, please be sure all your animals are spayed or neutered!
Adopt one of our featured cats, or foster a rescued animal if you can.
Support local rescue groups and shelters by donating, volunteering, or both!

Contact our city council to let them know you support all efforts to make Austin a TRUE no-kill city.

We are currently at capacity and not accepting new cats into our program.

is dedicated to the memory of Duncan,
who taught us about love, and helped us
become who we are.

TJR is financially self-supporting and we ask for an adoption fee from those who adopt.
We require a signed adoption application, an adoption agreement,
and we follow up adoptions for at least a year.
We reserve the right to refuse any applicant for any reason.
