No-Kill Advocacy Center

The No Kill Advocacy Center is the nation’s first organization dedicated solely to the promotion of a No Kill nation.

And it is the only national animal welfare agency that is staffed by people who have actually worked in and created a No Kill community.

Founded in 1990, Alley Cat Allies is part of an international effort working to promote, foster, and develop humane, non-lethal programs for feral and stray cats. 
The goal is to reduce the number of feral and stray cats through sterilization programs.
 Alley Cat Allies respects the sanctity of life, and the rights of individual animals, and embraces proactive preventative control methods, i.e. Trap-Neuter-Return.

For more than three decades, the Animal Legal Defense Fund has been fighting to protect the lives and advance the interests of animals through the legal system. Founded in 1979 by attorneys active in shaping the emerging field of animal law, ALDF has blazed the trail for stronger enforcement of anti-cruelty laws and more humane treatment of animals in every corner of American life. Today, ALDF’s groundbreaking efforts to push the U.S. legal system to end the suffering of abused animals are supported by hundreds of dedicated attorneys and more than 100,000 members.

Fund for Animals - The Fund for Animals was founded in 1967 by prominent author and animal advocate Cleveland Amory, and has spearheaded some of the most historic and significant events in the history of the animal protection movement.

With regional offices working around the country on hard-hitting animal advocacy campaigns, and animal care facilities such as the world-famous Black Beauty Ranch, The Fund is one of the largest and most active organizations working for the cause of animals throughout the world.

Organizations maintain their own home pages and available pet database. Launched in 1995, Petfinder was the first site of its kind and is today the largest single force introducing homeless pets with new families. Petfinder.com was responsible for over a half million adoptions last year!

Black Beauty Ranch - 1,150 acre refuge in East Texas that is home to hundreds of animals 

 Doris Day Animal League    - The Doris Day Animal League is a nonprofit, national, citizens lobbying organization formed to focus attention on issues involving the humane treatment of animals. 
Working with members of the House of Representatives and the Senate both in Washington, D.C., and their home states and districts, the League's goal is to pass laws to reduce the suffering of animals anywhere they are mistreated. Many states and cities have also benefited from the Washington staff's help in drafting legislation, organizing support and actual lobbying for or against legislation.

Launched in July 2002, The Animal Rescue Site focuses the power of the Internet on a specific need -- providing food for some of the 27 million unwanted animals given to shelters in the US every year. Each click on the "Feed an Animal in Need" button at The Animal Rescue Site provides a bowl of food for an animal at the world's largest pet adoption center, North Shore Animal League America, or at one of the Fund for Animals' world renowned animal sanctuaries, including the Black Beauty Ranch in Texas and the Wildlife Rehabilitation Center in California.

Individuals from around the world visit the site each day to click the "Feed an Animal in Need" button and help feed rescued animals. Over 10 million animals are put to death every year in the US alone because they are unwanted, abandoned, or abused.
