Austin
Pets Alive! is a non-profit volunteer organization whose
purpose is
to end the killing of adoptable dogs and cats by the City of Austin. We
want to make Austin a "No Kill" city for our pets. In 2001, more than
10,630 dogs and cats were killed at the Town Lake Animal Center.
Many of them were healthy puppies, kittens, dogs and cats whose only
crime was that they didn't have a home. They were killed only because
there were too many of them. But there are many solutions. If each household spayed and neutered their pets, we would be No-Kill today! You can make a difference. Join APA! to help save the animals! |

Austin Siamese Rescue Austin Siamese Rescue cats come from a variety of backgrounds. Some faced death at the shelter, while others came from abusive and neglectful households. Still others were treasured companions of guardians who could no longer care for them. What they all have in common is a need for a forever home, where they can live their lives as the happy, pampered cats they all deserve to be.

'Grimalkin' (grey + malkin) in Old English means 'grey cat' or 'old
cat'. Of course our cats aren't all grey, nor are most of them old, but Grimalkin Rescue specializes in the rescue and rehabilitation of adult cats, mostly from kill shelters in the Austin area. We are a small group of dedicated rescuers and foster guardians; some of us have a dozen or more foster cats and some just one or two. Our cats sometimes come to us sick or injured, and we devote great personal time and resources to giving them the best medical care and returning them to health and well-being. We have 501-C3 Nonprofit Corporation status under the umbrella of Austin Pets Alive!. |

City/County Animal Control &
City Run Shelters
Local animal control and city/county shelters may or may not euthanize animals that are brought to them. Please use the resources below for adopting a new companion animal, or searching for a lost pet. However do NOT place one that you can no longer care for. If you have an animal you can no longer care for please click here for other options or contact one of the many NO-KILL organizations above. Phone number 512-258-3149. TLAC: Town Lake Animal Center- A great place to find that new pet or to search for your lost pet. However, they do euthanize animals so try every other resource to place any pet that cannot be cared for. The pet adoption center and offices are located at 1156 West Cesar Chavez between Lamar and Mopac. Their phone number is 512-972-4738. Adoption and reclaim hours are from 11:30 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. Monday through Friday and 11:30 a.m. through 5 p.m. Weekends Williamson County Humane Society - The Humane Society of Williamson County (HSWC) is an "open-door" shelter committed to accepting every stray, unwanted, injured or abused animal, in addition to young, healthy puppies and kittens. This is NOT a no-kill facility and they do euthanize animals so try every other resource to place any pet that cannot be cared for |
