Animal Trustees of Austin was founded by concerned citizens desiring to help lost, abused and abandoned animals in Austin and Travis county. Being a volunteer organization, ATA is made up of members from all walks of life, that contribute widely-varied skills, but are united by one common interest -- the welfare of the animals. The ATA rescues animals from the local shelters and operates low cost spay-neuter clinics.   Animal Trustees has placed over 2000 dogs and cats in permanent adoptive homes, and has spent over $175,000 on medical care above and beyond the minimum to care for special needs animals.
Their good work is far too broad to explain here. Click on the logo above to learn more.

Austin Pets Alive! is a non-profit volunteer organization whose purpose is to end the killing of adoptable dogs and cats by the City of Austin. We want to make Austin a "No Kill" city for our pets. In 2001, more than 10,630 dogs and cats were killed at the Town Lake Animal Center.  Many of them were healthy puppies, kittens, dogs and cats whose only crime was that they didn't have a home. They were killed only because there were too many of them.
But there are many solutions.  If each household spayed and neutered their pets, we would be No-Kill today!  You can make a difference.  Join APA! to help save the animals!

Austin Siamese Cat Rescue

Austin Siamese Rescue
Austin Siamese Rescue is an affiliate of the Texas Siamese Rescue non-profit group. All the cats on their pages live in the Austin, TX area and are looking for loving and responsible homes.

Austin Siamese Rescue cats come from a variety of backgrounds. Some faced death at the shelter, while others came from abusive and neglectful households. Still others were treasured companions of guardians who could no longer care for them. What they all have in common is a need for a forever home, where they can live their lives as the happy, pampered cats they all deserve to be.

'Grimalkin' (grey + malkin) in Old English means 'grey cat' or 'old cat'.
Of course our cats aren't all grey, nor are most of them old, but Grimalkin Rescue specializes in the rescue and rehabilitation of adult cats, mostly from kill shelters in the Austin area. We are a small group of dedicated rescuers and foster guardians; some of us have a dozen or more foster cats and some just one or two. Our cats sometimes come to us sick or injured, and we devote great personal time and resources to giving them the best medical care and returning them to health and well-being. We have 501-C3 Nonprofit Corporation status under the umbrella of Austin Pets Alive!.

A nonprofit organization, located in Austin, Texas, dedicated to the emancipation of pets from euthanasia and overpopulation, and the interest of overall pet health and general animal welfare.
They operate a mobile spay-neuter clinic in various parts of Austin. Click the link above for the current schedule and information.

a new companion animal, or searching for a lost pet. However do NOT place one that you can no longer care for.  If you have an animal you can no longer care for please click here for other options or contact one of the many NO-KILL organizations above.

Williamson County Humane Society - The Humane Society of Williamson County (HSWC) is an "open-door" shelter committed to accepting every stray, unwanted, injured or abused animal, in addition to young, healthy puppies and kittens. This is NOT a no-kill facility and they do euthanize animals so try every other resource to place any pet that cannot be cared for
