Diego

Diego was rescued by the good folks at
Animal Trustees Of Austin .
He was born into a litter of feral cats and his foster family rescued him from a drainage pipe along with his mom and litter mates when he was about a week old.

We adopted him on April 7, 2001 at the age of 8 months.
The tiny kitten rescued from the drain pipe was given the name Fox by his foster family.   While we didn't want to disregard the love and good care he received in his foster home for the first 7+ months of his life, we also wanted to give our new boy a name beginning with D as a tribute to Duncan's memory.

So Diego's full name - Diego Fox - It's always nice to have a middle name so Mom or Dad can use two names to call out their sternest warnings!

This is the picture that was on the Animal Trustees Of Austin
website that Debbie saw.
It's Diego at about 1 month of age. Who could have resisted that face?

July 2001 and Diego still has his bright pink nose!

Diego made himself at home quickly. Here he learns to scale the cat tower....

Too cute to get into trouble ....

Looking to his human for guidance (or food!)...

Diego never got to meet Duncan...
But Duncan's spirit is always nearby.
It makes you wonder....

We have many cat toys, but of course
one of the favorites is a plastic ring off a drink bottle!

Diego's attention span is typical kitten. He's torn between the ball
and whatever is making a sound near him...(April 2001)

Big brother Murphy adapted quickly to his new little brother
and took him under his wing (paw?) to teach him the ropes...(April 2001)

Diego and Sierra share a nap.

NAP ATTACK !

Diego likes to drink out of the faucet
and doesn't seem to mind having the water cascade
off his fur.

As long as he's there, he may as well
have a drink! (July 2001)

When sitting in the sink isn't enough fun, it's time to head for the washing machine.
Nesting there is best when there are some dirty clothes waiting! (June 2001)

It only took about a week before Diego & Murphy
were good enough friends to share the porch.  (April 2001)
