Tuxedo Junction Rescue is at capacity and not accepting new cats into our facility. (The only exception is adoption returns). We are a very small shelter with limited capacity, and intake is possible only when adoptions occur. Please note that we do not accept cats being given up by their guardians. FAQ: Why don't
you
have more cats for adoption?
We are a small
self supporting facility. We feel it is better to have fewer feline
guests who
get maximum attention and care than a large number who have to fend for
themselves. This lets us get
to know each one and better place them with the family who fits them
best.
We built special rooms in a separate building for the foster
cats that mimic a nice home environment in order to make them feel more
at home and make a transition to a permanent home easier for them. We
don't mix our guest cats with our own cats in order to keep the stress
levels down for all concerned.
We strive to spend quality
time with each cat throughout each day and give
each one individual attention to help to re-socialize them. We have
volunteers who spend time playing and relaxing with the cats in
order for them to meet a variety of people. Many have
had a traumatic time before we got them. Some were strays who never had
a family to love them or they
may have been owner surrenders who were dumped at a shelter. All
cats spend a minimum of two weeks in quarantine to be sure they are
healthy and happy before they are considered as an adoption candidate.
(Quarantine means just separated from other cats.. they still get
plenty of attention !)
